As a Hyundai retailer, here at Laurel Hyundai, we're obviously big fans of the new Sonata. So we get extra excited when we see it getting the recognition that we know it deserves. When we were made aware of the following bit of news from the Hyundai camp, we couldn't wait to share it with you.
In a nod to Hyundai's pursuit of eco-friendly transportation solutions, Green Car Journal has selected the Sonata as a finalist for the "Green Car of the Year" honor. Only five finalists were chosen from an extensive field. Judges considered green technology, and fuel efficiency, among other metrics, to narrow down the competition. The winner of the award will be announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show, on November 19.
GCJ publisher and editor, Ron Cogan addressed the topic of the Sonata's selection, saying: "The 2016 Hyundai Sonata delivers what many buyers are seeking, a stylish and fun-to-drive car that offers varying options to 'go green.' Offering the Sonata in efficient gasoline, hybrid and plug-in hybrid choices at approachable price points is an important strategy for encouraging cleaner and more efficient personal transportation on our highways."
